Should Micco Incorporate?
Given recent annexations and pre-annexations of local properties by the city of Palm Bay, the need to prevent the urban sprawl and its associated problems from blighting our community has become alarmingly obvious. Some think that incorporation is the best option. What’s your view?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Slapping a child to prevent someone else from doing so doesn't make it right. Many problems have risen in the past few months because of activists telling one side and ignoring all the facts. Because of one sided, non listening activists, the end result is a total loss. Incorporating means to become a town, city or another (small) municipality. This means our new area of corporation will need a mayor, town council, police, fire, planning & zoning, land developement and many other departments that includes but is not limited to a tax collector. Yes, our taxes will have to increase many percentage points to pay all the new help that will be needed. Volunteers? That is a great idea. Don't forget, the Micco Homeowner's Association needs volunteers and can't even find enough for this small organization of homeowners. Where are the many more volunteers coming from that will have to spend a lot more time for a corpoation than for a homeowner's association. If incorporating becomes a serious factor to anyone that reads this, please make sure you listen, calculate and study all the facts before forming a final opinion. |
